Opcon Improves Energy Efficiency In Bioenergy Plant For Leading Imtech
Stockholm, Sweden (SPX) Dec 13, 2010 The subsidiary of energy and environmental technology group Opcon, Opcon Bioenergy, has received an order for a waste heat recovery facility in Meerhoven, Holland. The order is for SRE's flue gas condenser Renergi for the 7 MW biomass-powered incinerator that Opcon will construct for Imtech Industry International BV at a plant in Meerhoven. The flue gas condenser Renergi recovers energy from the gases discharged through the chimney and is expected to increase energy production by up to 20 percent without the need for more fuel. Opcon thus provides a series of proprietary products for the project. In addition to the flue gas condenser Renergi, Opcon supplies the leading incineration furnace Saxlund with a furnace structure developed together with the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (KTH) as well as Saxlund patented fuel handling systems. This will be the second flue gas condenser plant supplied by Opcon to projects managed by the leading European engineering group Imtech NV with its 25,000 employees and 4.3 billion Euros in turnover. The first delivery was to the well-known greenhouse project Vink Sion, renowned for its efficient use of energy. This is exporting of Swedish energy and environmental technology at its best. Our technology utilises the waste heat in the flue gas and therefore our customers save energy: energy that would otherwise have gone up in smoke. This improvement in energy efficiency means that customers can lower their fuel consumption and hence their emissions, says Claes Scheibe, President of Opcon Bioenergy AB. Our bioenergy strategy whereby we offer our customers an even broader product range with sales of several products to each customer is also beginning to bear fruit. We see it as a very positive development that a leading engineering group like Imtech is opening its eyes to the energy efficiency and quality that Opcon offers, says Claes Scheibe, President of Opcon Bioenergy AB. Opcon Bioenergy is part of Opcon's growing renewable energy business area and its focus on 'waste to value' with particular focus on waste heat recovery and bioenergy. Under the brand SRE, Renergi delivers cleaning systems and energy efficiency systems for biomass-fired district heating plants, sawmills, wood pellet manufacturers and commercial greenhouses as well as purification equipment for industries and drying systems for biomass. Within the bioenergy sector, Opcon Bioenergy offers everything from the design of the CHP plant to management systems and incineration plants under the brand name Saxlund. The group also offers the Opcon Powerbox for the production of green electricity from hot water or saturated steam.
