All Systems Go At World's Largest Cellulosic Ethanol Plant
Kalundborg, Denmark (SPX) Jul 16, 2010
Inbicon is declaring Energy Independence Day for Planet Earth as the first Inbicon Biomass Refinery swings into operation. It turns wheat straw into 1.4 million gallons a year of cellulosic ethanol, making it the largest producer of cellulosic ethanol in the world. "We're producing not only The New Ethanol to replace gasoline but also a clean lignin biofuel to replace coal," says Inbicon CEO Niels Henriksen. "But our renewable energy process is as important as our renewable energy products. ... read more

RFS2 Can Accomplish Midwest GHG Reduction Goals
Washington DC (SPX) Jun 29, 2010
Full implementation of the expanded Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS2) by 2022 would reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from transportation fuels used in the Midwest by approximately 7.7% compared to 2005 levels, according to a new study released. With certain regional "enhancements" to the RFS2 program, the Midwest could readily achieve a 10% GHG reduction by 2022, according to the study. The study was initiated by a coalition of Midwestern agriculture and biofuel stakeholders interested in ... read more
