The Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute (AFVi) hosts the fifteenth Alternative Fuels and Vehicles National Conference + Expo in Orlando, Florida April 19-22, 2009. AFVi announces the keynote speakers for 2009.

General Wesley Clark served in the United States Army for thirty-four years, rising in rank as NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, Europe, as a distinguished four-star general. After his retirement he became an investment banker, author, commentator, businessman, and presidential candidate.

Last week, General Clark became the latest leader for America's energy future as the Co-Chairman of Growth Energy. Clark shares the advocacy group's commitment to expanding the use of ethanol in gasoline, creating jobs, reducing greenhouse gases, and developing domestic energy resources.

T. Boone Pickens, Founder and Chairman of BP Capital Management, has been making headlines daily since last summer when he launched the "Pickens Plan," his national energy campaign. He's achieved his goal of starting a national conversation and now he wants the federal government to bring about change.

From conversations last week with Senator Harry Reid to his upcoming participation in a high level Washington energy policy forum, Mr. Pickens is a powerful voice in addressing the twin threats of economic vulnerability and national security.

Jeff Schuster is the Executive Director of Global Forecasting for the consulting firm J.D. Power and Associates. In that capacity he oversees the entire automotive forecasting practice which looks at vehicle sales, production and powertrain applications for all but 5% of global automotive activity.

With an automotive industry in a continuous state of flux, he is uniquely positioned to comment on recent unprecedented events, as well as projecting future automotive trends.

Keynote speakers will be joined by 200 experts presenting topics in thirty-five concurrent sessions. Timely information focuses on evolving transportation policy and funding changes during the last three months that have created an unprecedented opportunity for alternative fuels and advanced technology vehicle markets.

The Conference program features many of the leading decision-makers in alternative fuels and technologies, representing truck manufacturers, fuel suppliers, government agencies and parts manufacturers.

Session topics include legislation, air quality, plug-in hybrids, fuel cells, heavy-duty hybrids, biofuels updates, electric drive advances, and in-depth workshops on federal funding, biofuels, vehicle conversions, and natural gas trucking.

The national Conference is a fuel and technology neutral meeting place for policy and/or purchasing decision-makers. An estimated 2,000 people will attend.

AF and V 2009 is presented on behalf of AFVi's sponsors, including: ANGI Energy Systems, Bosch, Clean Energy, Disney, Emission Solutions, FirmGreen, Ford Motor Company, Foton America, General Motors, Global Electric Motorcars, GreenField Compression, Growth Energy, Luxfer, National Biodiesel Board, Renewable Fuels Association, Teleflex GFI, Toyota, Trimac, UTC Power, Westport Innovations and Wheels.
